Postscript

Congratulations to Venice who eventually won this game with London/Genoa 100+ points behind. This game was played in a little over 6 months and took some 1700 messages to complete! Some of the players' comments:

Venice
Andy, I have to thank you. The extra 60$ from LdV was basically doubled through leader bonuses and credit. And that was the difference between our scores. Marco's getting you pissed off really made my game.

Barcelona (Steve)
Well, my one goal was accomplished. Paris hosed me and himself with the papal... I wanted to make sure I finished above him.
Doug: Remember when you asked if my lead was insurmountable? Well, I'm in 5th place. :)
Thanks for the game, Beorn!!!

You can see why I wanted another turn. This turn, had it not looked like the last turn, I would have take 2 attacks on Allepo, gotten my $128 on Silk, bid 20, probably moved first being the last turn for sure in our group, everyone buys extra tokens trying to be last, bought proselytism, taken East Indies and China, bought Industry and the 2 sciences, played the crown to be protected from Rebellion and Mysticism, and, barring attacks, would have had 4 spice +1 with industry in pocket and gotten some much needed misery relief from Englightenment. Not over at all.

Not getting Industry last turn hurt, but, you cannot snub a free $60 off renaissance, you just fall futher behind.

London (in response to Venice)
True but I have to; if Marco places the 6 tokens he used to buy a card in my six largest provinces he is a prohibitive favorite to beat me. Also I lose to him if I let him keep the money to double with I&P and I needed the MR much more than he did. I do find it amusing that Genoa likely wins by Civil Warring anyone but me despite my being the closest opponent and using his tokens to kill me once the Wool isn't played as I will try to grab some of the patronage cash for myself. I want to thank everyone for great game and special thanks to Beorn for being an outstanding GM!
